Cheyenne, Wyoming — The Best Western Hitching Post Inn and Conference Center today announced plans for extensive renovations of its facility, along with new additions to its management team.

 

The Best Western Hitching Post Inn and Conference Center was purchased by Mantiff Cheyenne Hospitality, LLC in December 2006, and is now managed by DePalma Hotels Corporation. Clifford Weber, who has previously served as general manager for the Hampton Inn in Loveland, Colorado, and the DoubleTree hotel in Grand Junction, Colorado, joined the Hitching Post team as new general manager in May of this year.

 

Weber said that the comprehensive remodeling plan would breathe new life into the “Hitch,” which is popular with both tourists and locals alike. “We’re now finalizing a more-than-$2-million renovation plan, which will include both interior and exterior paint for the entire building, extensive landscaping, new carpet and lighting in the conference rooms, and renovations to both restaurants as well,” said Weber, touching on just a few of the major renovation plans.

 

In addition, Weber noted that all guest rooms will receive new bathrooms with designer details such as new tile, curved shower rods, fashionable sinks and shower heads and new counter tops to fit the natural feel of the location. In the common areas, lobby bathrooms will be remodeled for ADA compliance.

 

In his new position, Weber said he hopes to continue the legacy of service and community involvement the Hitch is known for. “I look forward to the completion of our renovation plans and am excited to be a part of the Cheyenne Community.”

 

In keeping with the vision for improving the Hitch, the facility has also added Toby Engle as its new food and beverage director. Engle, who most recently served as director of operations at Invesco Field in Denver, plans to continue the facility’s long tradition of serving both locals and travelers alike. Under Engle, the daily buffet at the Cheyenne Cattle Company, the city’s premier steak house, will return to its roots, with a carver on hand during lunch hours and a new menu featuring added steak selections and Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes. “I look forward to working with our long-standing team of associates and continuing our commitment to local relations, service and quality” Engle said.

 

Weber believes all the improvements will maintain the tradition that Cheyenne locals have come to appreciate from the Hitch, while meeting the needs of discerning business and leisure travelers. “The comprehensive renovation plan we’re putting in place will ensure that our accommodations will provide a modern, relaxing haven for overnight guests, as well as updated facilities for business conferences and other events. At the same time, our restaurants will maintain their local, Cheyenne flair and reputation for great food and service to everyone who comes to dine or have meetings here,” said Weber.

 

According to Weber, some behind-the-scenes renovations have already begun.  “I apologize for the plastic-ware a few weeks ago, but it was temporarily necessary as we replaced our dishwasher and a portion of the kitchen ceiling.” Weber added, “The scope of work should be finalized with a representative of the ownership arriving July 15.  From there, it’s just a matter of the proper permits and licenses prior to beginning the major work toward the end of July. We look forward to hosting a community open house when the major work is complete in the fall.”
