(Cheyenne) – The Group Travel Family has picked Cheyenne, WY and the Little America Hotel and Resort to host the 2021 Small Market Meetings Conference, Visit Cheyenne announced today. The conference is the travel industry’s only organization dedicated to growing small market meeting travel. 2021 will be the 12th year of the conference.
The conference will bring 75-100 meeting planners to Cheyenne September 26-28, 2021 along with another 125 travel industry representatives.
Visit Cheyenne, in partnership with the Little America, put forth a proposal to the Group Travel Family to host the conference which has showcased cities such as Sioux Falls, SD, Mesa, AZ, Little Rock, AR and South Bend, IN. The proposal was tailored to showcase the meeting and event amenities that Cheyenne and Laramie County offers to meeting planners who look for unique venues, cities and experiences for their attendees.
“Cheyenne offers a truly authentic Western experience for conference and meeting attendees,” said Visit Cheyenne director of sales and marketing, Jim Walter, “We look forward to having the meeting planners and fellow industry representatives feed a bison, enjoy a Wyoming crafted beer or spirit, and take in great venues such as our new botanic gardens, the new Archer event center, the Cheyenne Depot Plaza and others.
Walter also says the Little America played a critical role in landing the conference. “Without the support of a strong host hotel with the appropriate meeting space we could not have even considered a proposal. The Little America offers us a chance to let Cheyenne shine for the planners.”
The conference will have an immediate economic impact of $175,000 over three days in 2021, but the true impact comes from showing off the city says Walter, “The goal with a conference like this is to turn the planner attendees into buyers. We want them to experience Cheyenne at its best and turn around and bring their meetings here over the subsequent four or five years.”
