Description

Having attended the 1963 March on Washington and listened firsthand to Martin Luther King, Jr.’s profound words, “I have a dream,” Dr. Clayborne Carson is uniquely positioned to teach about King’s works, beliefs, and impact. In 1985, Coretta Scott King provided Carson with all of MLK’s personal writings; he has since dedicated his life to the King Papers Project, the comprehensive collection of the civil rights leader’s sermons, speeches, letters, publications, and personal writings. Founder of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute at Stanford University and editor of numerous books on King’s life, Carson is considered the foremost scholar on Martin Luther King, Jr.  A Q&A session and book signing will follow the presentation.
