Select dates in July & August. Cheer the hero and boo the villain with the entire family in this taste of entertainment of the Old West. Libations, popcorn, old-fashioned candy, and stick-on mustaches are available for enjoyment as the card girls introduce the three-act show, hosted by a true cowboy M.C. and overseen by the local 'sheriff.' A summer must-do in Cheyenne! The Melodrama is held at the Historic Atlas Theatre which has long been a part of our downtown area. Built in 1887, the building began its existence as a candy store. It has been a vaudeville stage, a movie theatre, and even a discotheque called “The Pink Pony.” In the 1970s, Cheyenne Little Theatre Players purchased the building to use as a permanent home for The Old Fashioned Melodrama. From that time to this there has been major renovation work done in the theatre, lobby, and building facade. You truly can feel the history of Cheyenne when you walk through the doors!
